![]() Students analyzed the verbs Van Allsburg uses is his book Jumangi, and determined if they think it is a strong or boring verb. Students learned about verbs and what they are used to describe. Learning Activity Plan 2: During this lesson students explored an important characteristic of Chris Van Allsburgs writing, which is his excellent usage of verbs. Also they considered what he frequently makes the reader do, like: constantly makings inferences and asking questions. ![]() Students considered if a characteristic, style, or theme is important and reoccurring to Chris Van Allsburg’s writing. Students compared two of his books, both of which were read aloud.The class will collaboratively reflected on the readings, thoroughly discussing whether something should be added to the author anchor chart. Students had an opportunity to analyze common themes, characters, and stories in the books of Chris Van Allsburg. ![]() Learning Activity Plan 1: Most of the lesson was spent as whole group discussion and reading, as we began to explore his writings and illustrations within the two texts: Jumanji and Zathura. ![]()
